WORX continue to test the waters and every now and then, they come up with innovative features for their lawnmowers. The WORX WG719 is an example of this trend. Enforced with superior cutting and mulching, this feature-filled push mower promises a quality manicured lawn. The addition of front caster wheels has piqued our interest to see if the new and improved push mower lives up to its reputation. Here are the specifications for the WORX WG719 push mower;

Features

The WG719 has a 19-inch steel cutting deck which houses the double edged blade. It uses an electric start and weighs 56.0 lbs. The front caster wheels cater for maneuverability as well. Discharge options come in side discharge, mulching and rear bag collector. This lawnmower employs the use of a 13 Amp motor to provide a maximum of 45 minutes mowing. You can adjust the cutting height from 1.5 to 4.0 inches. The handle folds for easy storage, and it can be stored vertically (on its back). A 3-year warranty is guaranteed for the product.

Pros

  • Front caster wheels

The front caster wheels have greatly improved the maneuverability of this lawnmower. They move on an axle much like the wheels on a shopping cart. Adding the caster wheels was a breakthrough. You can move the lawnmower in angles that traditional lawnmowers cannot achieve. By pivoting on the rear wheels, you can cut contoured terrain and moving the mower sideways is a breeze. But when mowing uphill, the caster wheels can swing haphazardly. WORX anticipated this and introduced a locking mechanism if you want it to work like a regular rigid mower.

  • Improved deck

WORX’s steel deck is durable and also houses a double edged blade. This cuts the grass into very small pieces to produce mulch. This technology has been aptly named Nutricut as it is healthy for the grass.

Cons

The caster wheels are part of the problem when it comes to the WG719. Because they stick out in front of the mower, approaching corners becomes difficult. Also, the caster wheels will tend to move a lot when you are pushing the mower and controlling it can be a bore. Luckily, you can use the lock to keep it straight. The steel deck makes this electric mower heavy. Although the caster wheels make it easier to push it, pushing uphill can be a challenge. There have also been reports of the rear bag releasing clippings towards the person mowing due to a design flaw.

Conclusion

Credit has to be given for the front caster wheels although they are a paradox as they still pose a disadvantage. If you have a lawn where you are winding around to get it cut, this might be the lawn mower for you. It has good traction since all wheels are well treaded. But for regular shaped lawns that are somewhat flat, the moving front wheels can be a problem. This is a powerful electric lawnmower that can be used on a small or medium sized grass lawn. It is also easy to pack it away because of its folding handle.
